In 2000 Superb is the Night was published, a volume resulting from painstaking work done on numerous poems sent to the publisher Einaudi.
The verses that make up the collection were written from 1996 to 1999. Since it was not possible to give the material a chronological order, the editors relied on the overall thematic and stylistic homogeneity of the work.
In 2001, an additional book “Paper Love” with five of Bonaldi’s engravings and nine unpublished poems was published by Lo Sciamano Editions.
With Salani in 2002 came out a small volume entitled Folle, folle, folle d’amore per te, with a thought by Roberto Vecchioni, and in 2003 Einaudi published Più bella della poesia è stata la mia vita.
In 2007 the author, with Alda and I, Fables, written by four hands with fabulist Sabatino Scia, won the Elsa Morante Ragazzi Prize. The same year he was awarded an honorary degree in “Theories of Communication and Languages.”
“I have the feeling that I last too long, that I can’t extinguish myself: like all old people my roots have a hard time letting go of the earth. But then again I often tell everyone that that cross without justice that was my asylum only revealed to me the great power of life.” Alda Merini.
