This volume collects and recounts the work of Bruno Munari, his relationships with the artistic trends of his time, and his attention to the world of children and education.
From his early artistic experiments to the works that made him world famous.
Futurist among futurists, abstractionist among abstractionists, linked to trends that changed contemporary graphic design.
An animator of concretism and “good design,” a theorist of programmed art, the designer was this and much more.
Aldo Tanchis thus presents in these pages the artist’s “world,” a system always in dynamic balance between pairs of opposites and complementaries.

Together with the spatial Lucio Fontana, Bruno Munari established himself on the Milanese scene of the 1950s-60s.
These were the years of the economic boom in which the figure of the artist-visual operator was born, who became a business consultant and actively contributed to Italy’s postwar industrial renaissance.
Munari’s publishing output spans seventy years, from 1929 to 1998, and includes books, advertising brochures for various industries, covers and illustrations.
In all of his works, a strong experimental impulse is present, pushing him to explore unusual and innovative forms starting with the layout.
From Unreadable Books without Text to his extensive output as an author in addition to numerous covers and illustrations for books by Rodari and Orengo.
A writer and screenwriter, he was born in 1955 in Lei, a small town in the province of Nuoro, and graduated in Modern Literature with a thesis on Bruno Munari.
In 1981 he published with Laterza his first book, L’arte anomala di Bruno Munari(The Anomalous Art of Bruno Munari), a reworking of his dissertation.
This volume was followed in 1986 by the monograph Bruno Munari, co-edited in Italy, the US, England and France.
