Gianni Rodari and Bruno Munari have always looked closely at the world of childhood, united by a desire to liberate images and words.

Putting together opposite and distant elements, imagining syntheses and unforeseen solutions, they gave meanings to letters and signs, carrying out a parallel path for years.

In the illustrations made for Rodari, Bruno Munari manages, with his unmistakable mark, to recreate the same poetry of Rodari’s stories and rhymes.

BRUNO MUNARI

Together with the spatial Lucio Fontana, Bruno Munari established himself on the Milanese scene of the 1950s-60s.

These were the years of the economic boom in which the figure of the artist-visual operator was born, who became a business consultant and actively contributed to Italy’s postwar industrial renaissance.

Munari’s publishing output spans seventy years, from 1929 to 1998, and includes books, advertising brochures for various industries, covers and illustrations.

In all of his works, a strong experimental impulse is present, pushing him to explore unusual and innovative forms starting with the layout.

From Unreadable Books without Text to his extensive output as an author in addition to numerous covers and illustrations for books by Rodari and Orengo.
