Handbook of Design History.
Design and the history of technological innovations are inextricably intertwined in the pages of this handbook.
So many disciplines are considered here.
In addition to the field of furniture design, a wide range of sectors were examined: from technical objects to graphics and fashion.
From car design to social design, including more often than not reflections on the spillover of design into the history of costume in its applications to real life.
Handbook of Design History offers several reading planes.
The synchronic (horizontal ) narrative, which follows the unraveling of the thread of time in a linear sense, is complemented by a diachronic (vertical ) approach.
The history of a single type, material, or concept becomes detached from its era, to be analyzed, and thus read, independently.
Complementing the book is an extensive iconographic set of images with lengthy captions that specify a particular story and provide further independent reading.
