Tokyo Shops

Tokyo workshops.

Mateusz Urbanowicz has lived in Tokyo for several years.

In 2016, he made his debut with a series of ten watercolor plates devoted to old stores in Tokyo.

The drawings, which immediately achieved great success, appeared in numerous newspapers and on television broadcasts.

The author of Tokyo Shops then decided to complete the series with forty new stores, exploring their architectural variations in various Tokyo neighborhoods. The book soon ends up becoming a reference guide for all those nostalgic for old Tokyo.

The bilingual, Italian-Japanese text includes an appendix explaining the technique used to draw the facades and the material adopted to make the drawings, all in watercolor.
