Writers on the Road.

Far from familiar places, among crevasses, seven seas and skyscrapers, many writers have found inspiration for their masterpieces.

Whether on foot or on steamships and carriages, they experienced rousing affairs and made decisive encounters.

Encounters capable of being imprinted in memory and reborn on paper in immortal tales.

From Melville’s first voyage aboard a whaler. To Kerouac ‘s to America’s heartland, to Harry Potter’s fateful train.

Travis Elborough’s book traces 35 author itineraries, with juicy anecdotes about the birth of legendary works such as Dracula, Heart of Darkness and The Talented Mr. Ripley.

Writers on the Road, a perfect read for lovers of travel and great fiction, enhanced by color photographs and maps that reconstruct the stages of each adventure.
